Boys and girls from the Galapagos celebrate and discover the immense wealth of their islands through #GalapagosInfinito!

During the launch week we carried out in-person and virtual missions with the entire community of the archipelago. Welcome to this adventure!

Give It All Initiative

The video highlights an inspiring initiative, *Darlo Todo de Infinito*, designed to connect the youth of the Galápagos Islands with the ocean and its natural wonders. To mark the program’s launch, participants engaged in meaningful activities, such as beach cleanups, learning about microplastics, and practicing water sports like kayaking and snorkeling.

They also gained unique insights into ocean science by meeting experts, including volcanologists and marine guides. They experienced life aboard boats and sailboats alongside captains and chefs. Beyond technical skills, the initiative encouraged mindfulness, fostering a deeper connection between participants, nature, and the ocean’s tranquility.

This program celebrates the unique environment of the Galápagos, emphasizing sustainability, exploration, and respect for the ocean’s infinite beauty. It’s just the beginning of a journey to preserve the region’s extraordinary biodiversity while inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.

For the first time in the history of the Galapagos, children from all the islands asked questions live to astronaut Victor Glover who spoke from the International Space Station.

Galapagos Calling the International Space Station

Astronaut Victor Glover spoke with students in the Galapagos while aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Using the amateur radio telebridge network, Glover answered questions from students about his experiences in space and the significance of the ISS.

He shared his awe when viewing Earth from space, and described its beauty, complexity, and vibrant appearance. Students inquired about everyday life in microgravity, and Glover explained how astronauts eat and drink in space, emphasizing the fun of floating food.

When asked about his childhood aspirations, he revealed he wanted to be a police officer like his father.

Glover explained the ISS’s multifaceted role as a laboratory, manufacturing facility, and hub for scientific and communications research. He stressed the importance of their work in understanding and protecting Earth’s oceans and environment. A special moment occurred in the conversation when he confirmed seeing the Galapagos Islands from space!

The session concluded when the ISS moved below the horizon.

The conversation showcases the ISS’s educational outreach, sparking curiosity and fostering connections between space exploration and life on Earth.
